iMessage on your iPhone doesn't send?

When you're sending a message to another iPhone user, the default option is to send as an iMessage via your data service. However sometimes the iMessage fails to send or reach the recipient ('delivered' does not appear under the message). If this happens, tap and hold the message and an option 'send as text message' appears. Tap and the message is sent as a regular SMS.
